Trial Training Center

The downhill track at the Trials Training Center has long been one of the most demanding stops on the Downhill Southeast circuit—and one of its original venues. It’s also unique in that all riders race the same primary track, a testament to both the challenge and character of the mountain.

The rugged landscape makes TTC a difficult place to both race and build. Much of the course is handbuilt, shaped around massive rock formations and terrain that has been historically mined for stone. These natural constraints define the track’s raw, technical feel.

The new section blends fast, smooth trail with classic rocky, technical riding, staying true to the mountain while adding approachability. With this addition, we’re hoping to open the door to more Cat 2/3 riders and encourage increased participation without losing what makes TTC such a legendary venue.

  • Created a more approachable line that bypassed the most advanced features on the mountain while preserving the downhill character

  • Utilized a larger rented machine to manage the heavy rock and challenging terrain during construction

  • Built the new section to transition from the narrow, technical upper track into a wider, faster segment of trail

  • Blended fast, smooth riding with classic technical singletrack throughout the new section

  • Maintained a fun, engaging trail that lowered the barrier for riders while still providing meaningful challenges
